Richard Kimmerling

Richard Kimmerling nourished a love of drawing fromĀ  an early age but circumstances led him first to Cambridge University and then to a successful career as an English teacher in East Anglia for upwards of twenty years.

It was not until 2004 that he graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Ipswich School of Art. Overlapping with this period, he and his wife raised a family and ran a smallholding at Knodishall in Suffolk for thirty five years. That experience of direct engagement with the natural world has profoundly influenced his choice of subject matter ever since, and his work continues to display a profound awareness of the changing weather and varied landscape of East Anglia.

As a founder member of Sudbourne Park Printmakers he has continued to indulge his passion for drawing and painting whilst exploring and experimenting with traditional methods of etching and lithography, at the same time remaining open to the possibilities offered by new techniques in printmaking.

His work has been exhibited at the Contemporary Art Society, and the Royal Society Of British Artists at the Mall Galleries, London and he exhibits in both public and private galleries in East Anglia and elsewhere.
