Chrissy Norman

Chrissy has a background in watercolour painting and discovered printmaking at Suffolk College in 1999. She soon decided that etching was for her as it offered scope to develop her love of drawing along with the experimental element that came with all the processes involved. She went on to improve her skills and has been fascinated by the medium ever since.

She is particularly known for her etchings and colour aquatints and more recently has turned to monotypes, carborundum prints and collagraphs for larger, less detailed work. Her inspiration comes from the natural world and everyday life. She looks for patterns in subject matter defined by light, shadows and season, often cropping an image to produce negative shapes.

Her work has been purchased for the collections of The Palace of Westminster and Colchester & Ipswich Museums. She has also exhibited with The Royal Society of Printmakers and in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Chrissy has been a member of Sudbourne Park Printmakers since 2006 and is now a regular tutor at the etching workshops there.
