Amanda Clayton

Amanda is a printmaker who lives and works in Suffolk where the surrounding coast and countryside often provides the inspiration for her prints. She loves experimenting with colour, particularly with relief prints, and enjoys the challenge of distilling the complexity of a landscape into a design.

Although she studied art for A level and went on to do courses in watercolour and screen printing it wasn’t until she retired to Suffolk that she had the time and opportunity to develop her love of printing.  A course at Sudbourne Park Printmakers rekindled that love and she’s now delighted to be a member of the group herself and enjoys being surrounded by other printmakers who inspire her to experiment with different techniques.

Primarily a relief printer she also enjoys the narrative form that etching provides, particularly when more detail is required, and the freedom that monoprints or etched lino allow.

She has exhibited at various galleries in Suffolk, including Snape Maltings, the Peter Pears Gallery in Aldeburgh and The Craft House in Woodbridge.
