Sara Harrington

Sara has been printmaking for over six years and has been an artist and tutor in various creative arts courses for over a decade. She has always worked in art, beginning in the 1990s as a commercial graphic designer, followed by botanical painting, life drawing, art teaching, therapeutic arts and more recently printmaking and tutoring.

Her work in relief woodcut often uses the process of reduction woodcutting. More recently Sara has also been combining the different printing techniques of dry-point and monotype printing. She exhibits at various Suffolk galleries and at the SPP workshop annual shows.

She enjoys the process of free and expressive mark-making into wood, often working directly into the woodblock. This approach is also seen in her mixed printing of dry-point and monotypes, which also allows the use of strong vibrant washes of colour.

Sara is exploring themes linked to going between the familiar into nature in its wildest states and creating narratives about glimpsing sight of these remote landscapes and the journeys undertaken within them. She is currently working on a children’s book.
