Peter Polaine
Stacks Image 104

Peter trained at Walthamstow School of Art as a painter under Stuart Ray and Margaret Green with Peter Blake and Ken Russell.

He has exhibited in several London Galleries including The Royal Academy, as well as East Anglian Galleries and is represented in Germany where he has a strong following by private collectors.

His printmaking currently runs alongside his painting. Peter prefers woodcut printmaking as it gives him the opportunity to create strong images and he likes to push the boundaries of printmaking. Peter uses a variety of woods and it has become addictive, whenever he sees a piece of wood, to look at the grain and possibilities.

Peter is influenced by the German Expressionists, especially Die Brücke and Der Blaue Reiter groups. He is proud to belong to Sudbourne Park Printmakers and uses the antique Columbian presses.
