Sudbourne Park Printmakers was established in 1992 by the late master printmaker Gareth Jones who carefully chose and purchased traditional antique relief and etching presses which we have been able to use in the studio. Hundreds of printmakers have worked on these presses, producing an amazing array of prints.
Gareth’s family have kindly given us the opportunity to purchase three of his presses, so that we can continue to thrive as a cooperative and ensure that we are able to pass on printing techniques to future students and members.
The Krause press and The Kimber press are situated in the etching room. These are two impressive antique presses that produce high quality etchings, aquatints and carborundum prints.
The Colombian Press – a stunning antique press in the relief room which is used to print e.g. wood and lino cuts, adds to the heritage feel of the studio.
To help us buy these presses, we will be raising funds over the next couple of years through different activities and events.
Our member Ross Loveday has kindly donated many of his smaller carborundum prints to be sold at a discounted price at Bothy Yard on the 16th and 17th December. More details will follow about Ross and his work, and all proceeds raised will go towards the purchase of Gareth’s presses.
We hope that we will see many of you at our future fundraising events and look forward to updating you on our progress!
